Happy Veterans Day

Thank you to the veterans who have served the United States.

My late father served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a medic and was wounded in action on Sept. 30, 1944.

He passed away on July 9, 1997.

This is a picture of him and his mother during a leave home.

  1. Happy Veterans Day

My family got lucky when it came to war. I looked up my paternal line, we had one guy fight in the War of 1812. The other was in the Revolutionary War but he did not see combat because of his role.

My dad was almost drafted into Vietnam before they called the whole thing off. His dad was too old for WWII and too young for WWI

  9. So sorry for your loss. My father had three brothers, and all served during WWII; my father was in the Navy. We lost him to lung cancer in 2003, due to the polio he'd contracted as a boy. Been thinking about him, wondering how he'd be reacting to the recent election.
